Praise to Panasonic Cameras

A fresh powder (snow) fell overnight so we went out to one of our favorite parks in Connecticut for a hike and photography. I am happy with the shots I ended up getting.

Here’s the mistake I made… after getting out of the car, I put the camera strap OVER my gloves. At the end of a 2-3 hour hike, I was super tired and hungry. I took my gloves off and the strap came with it… my $1,500 camera dropped on the ground!

I cracked the rear view screen a little, but it’s not that bad honestly. The kit lens (12-32mm) seems intact and the body powers up and still captures photos. Despite the damaged screen, you can’t tell that easily unless you look for it.

All of the weather seals held up, so the battery and SD cards were all dry. Kudos to Panasonic for building amazing cameras!

I’ll probably leave the screen cracked as it’s not that big a deal, but I definitely learned a valuable (and costly) lesson today! I’m not going to use this as an excuse for a new camera… I’m pretty happy with it as it stands, so I expect a few more years out of this guy.
